How to update your chiropractic listing
Most listings on ChiropractorNearMe.com come from the NPPES NPI Registry, the public record that every chiropractor with a National Provider Identifier (NPI) keeps. Keeping that record current fixes your details here and in the many other directories, insurers and apps that use the same data. If something needs fixing sooner, you can also send us a correction.
Where your listing details come from
- Name, address, phone and NPI: the NPPES NPI Registry, published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). We include providers with a chiropractic taxonomy code (111N) and use each provider's listed practice location.
- Website: shown only when we have confirmed it, either because the practice's own site lists the same phone number and street address as the listing, or because we confirmed it with the practice's request.
- Older listings: some practices were carried over from the original ChiropractorNearMe.com directory.
- Corrections: changes that practices send us through our form, after we review them.
Option 1: update your NPI record at NPPES
Only the provider, or someone they authorize, can change an NPI record. NPPES is run by CMS; we can't change it for you.
- Go to nppes.cms.hhs.gov and sign in with your CMS Identity & Access (I&A) user ID and password.
- Under Manage Provider Information, choose the NPI you want to update and select the edit (pencil) icon.
- Update the practice location address, phone number or other details, then continue through the screens and submit the update. Saving without submitting doesn't send the change.
- If you have both an individual NPI (Type 1) and a practice or organization NPI (Type 2), each has its own record. Update both.
Federal rules require providers to report changes to their NPPES information within 30 days of the change (45 CFR 162.410(a)(4)).
How long until it shows here?
CMS updates the online NPI Registry daily, and publishes the full NPI data file monthly with weekly update files in between (CMS data dissemination). We refresh our listings from those CMS files periodically, so an NPPES change appears here after our next refresh. If you need it sooner, send us a correction too.
Option 2: send us a correction
Use our correction form to fix an address, phone number, practice name or website, report that a practice has moved or closed, or ask for a listing to be removed. Owners can also claim their listing. The quickest way is the "Suggest a correction" link on your listing page, which fills in the practice for you.
- We review requests on weekdays and check them against public sources, such as the practice's own website and the NPI Registry.
- Once a change is confirmed, we update the listing and protect those details so a future registry refresh doesn't overwrite them.
- Updated pages can take up to a day to appear everywhere on the site.
- If we need more information, we may email you at the address you give us.
Getting your website shown
Make sure your website shows the same phone number and street address as your listing. We check practice websites from time to time and add the ones that match. You can also include your website address in a correction.
